Background
Michelangelo was raised in Florence during the late 1400's. At an early age many realzied he had a gift for the arts. Michelangelo apprenticed to Ghirlandaio, one of the best artists of the time. Through this experience, Michelangelo gained interest in sculpting, which became one of his greatest talents. Michelangelo's greatest pieces were the Pieta, David, and the ceiling of the Sistene Chapel, all of which took years of hard emotional and physical labor. Almost all of Michelangelo's peices involved Christianity and were used as displays in Roman Catholic churches all across the world. Michelangelo showed that through perseverance, patience, and effort, anything was possible. This inspired many across various fields to pursue their aspirations. Michelangelo died at the age of 89. He was buried in Florence, the town where he was raised as a boy.
